The Essential Michael Jackson on yhdysvaltalaisen laulajan Michael Jacksonin kahdeksas kokoelmalevy, joka julkaistiin vuonna 2005. Se sisältää Jacksonin sekä hänen yhtyeensä The Jackson 5 hittejä vuosilta 1969–2001. Albumi julkaistiin Yhdysvalloissa 19. heinäkuuta 2005 ja päivää aikaisemmin Isossa-Britanniassa. Yhdysvalloissa julkaistiin 26. elokuuta 2008 rajoitetun erän versio The Essential Michael Jackson 3.0, joka sisältää seitsemän Jacksonin kappaletta käsittävän ylimääräisen kolmannen levyn. Albumi oli tarkoitus julkaista Isossa-Britanniassa uudelleen 6. heinäkuuta 2009 nimellä The Hits, mutta se peruttiin Jacksonin kuoleman vuoksi.

Albumille myönnettiin kaksinkertaista platinaa Yhdysvalloissa vuonna 2009. Sitä on myyty yli seitsemän miljoonaa kappaletta maailmanlaajuisesti, mikä tekee siitä Sonyn menestyneimmän ”The Essential” -linjan albumin.
