Reaktor modular kecil

Reaktor modular kecil adalah bagian dari desain generasi baru pembangkit listrik tenaga nuklir yang dikembangkan di beberapa negara. Tujuan dari reaktor modular kecil adalah untuk memberikan energi nuklir yang bersifat hemat biaya.

Reaktor kecil didefinisikan oleh Badan Tenaga Atom Internasional seperti pembangkit listrik tenaga nuklir dengan daya listrik yang dihasilkan kurang dari 300 MWe. Sementara pendapat umum menyatakan bahwa kapasitas keluaran daya listrik yang nilainya kurang dari 500 MWe dianggap sebagai sebuah reaktor modular kecil.[1][2]

Reaktor modular diproduksi di pabrik dan dibawa ke situs sepenuhnya untuk dibangun.
